Position Description/Responsibilities:
Looking for a Database Administrator needed for a client in Chicago.

Responsibilities
The DBA will perform the following:
• Work with a large team of application specialists supporting our client’s enterprise applications. The team has seventeen members with a variety of roles, including DBA, developers, functional/business analysts, and management.
• Oracle database installation, patching, and upgrading
• Application installation, configuration, patching, upgrading and cloning
• Development Code installation
• Production Code installation
• Occasional weekend maintenance work expected
• System and SQL tuning
• Environment cloning
• Backup/recovery
• Security implementation
• System monitoring and health checks
• SR support with Oracle
• Standards/best practice implementation and enforcement
• Risk adverse
• Excellent follow through and quality checking skills
• Good communication with technical teams and business user community
• 24x7 On-call support
• Work collaboratively with network and server teams to optimize and resolution issues

Environment Profile


Application Profile
Custom Debt Referral system built on Oracle database and Oracle Forms technologies.
Custom Receivables/Billing system built on Oracle database, Oracle Forms, and Java Web technologies.
Cashiering system on Oracle database and Java Web technologies. System includes a COTS product called Payment Manager.
Servers: JBOSS, Weblogic, Oracle Forms & Reports Server
OS: Windows, Unix, Linux
DB: Oracle 11g, SQL Server 2005

Position Requirements/Technical Skills:
• 5+ years experience Oracle database experience, including 11g
• 5+ years experience in working in application support and development environments
• Very good written and oral communicator
• Experience handling high pressure situations well.
• Must have temperament and patience with all roles in a complex organization.
• SQL Server experience is desirable
• PCI compliancy experience is highly desirable
• Experience with recommending and implementing security policy/enhancements
• Experience with disaster recovery processes
• Must have a strong customer service orientation
• Must have good documentation skills
• Knowledge of database theory including expertise in RDBMS, SQL, PLSQL
• Understanding of distributed computing architectures, e.g. Client/Server, Oracle Forms Server
• Understanding of the underlying operating system, e.g. Windows, Unix, Linux
• Database security
